Calidad de vida de las personas mayores dependientes en su domicilio

Abstract

El progresivo envejecimiento de la sociedad y el incremento de las situaciones de dependencia han dado pie a asegurar una adecuada calidad de vida a las personas mayores dependientes que viven en su propio hogar. De este modo, es esencial conocer y analizar como es la vida diaria de estas personas, así como el papel que tiene el Trabajo Social en estas situaciones. Por medio de un estudio cualitativo, el presente trabajo investiga sobre la experiencia de seis personas mayores en situación de dependencia, con grado I o II, con el fin de visibilizar sus necesidades, conocer cómo afrontan su día a día e identificar las posibles barreras enfrentadas. Determinando así los elementos que condicionan tanto de forma negativa como positiva en su calidad de vida.

The progressive ageing of society and the increase in situations of dependency have given rise to the need to ensure an adequate quality of life for dependent elderly people living in their own homes. Thereby, it is essential to know and analyse the daily life of these people, as well as the role of Social Work in these situations. By means of a qualitative study, this paper investigates the experience of six elderly people in a situation of dependency, with degree I or II, with the aim of making their needs visible, finding out how they cope with their daily lives and identifying the possible barriers they face. Thus determining the elements that condition both negatively and positively their quality of life.
