El síndrome del maullido del gato: intervención del maestro de audición y lenguaje

Abstract

Este Trabajo Fin de Grado está orientado a investigar sobre la enfermedad rara conocida como el “síndrome del maullido del gato”, también llamada “síndrome de Lejeune” o “síndrome de 5p”. Se va a investigar de una forma detallada sobre las características que presentan las personas con dicha enfermedad y principalmente como esta afecta a su aprendizaje y desempeño en la vida cotidiana. Se abordará la importancia de la intervención del maestro especialista, en este caso de audición y lenguaje, para la adquisición de los prerrequisitos y requisitos para el aprendizaje, que pueden ser útiles no solo a nivel escolar, sino también familiar y social. A pesar de ser una enfermedad quizás poco conocida e infrecuente debemos ser conscientes de que existe y estar alerta para poder actuar e intervenir de forma efectiva con estas personas. Por este motivo se debe saber que, “es un trastorno del desarrollo durante la embriogénesis poco frecuente causado por una deleción total o parcial del brazo corto del cromosoma 5. Clásicamente se caracteriza por llanto agudo y monotónico en maullido desde el nacimiento, asociado a un grado variable de discapacidad intelectual, retraso psicomotor, microcefalia y dismorfia facial”. (Orphanet, 2020) Dicho trabajo de fin de grado lleva consigo una propuesta de intervención destinada a los alumnos de primero de primaria que manifiesten este síndrome y que requieren de la intervención del maestro de audición y lenguaje de forma periódica para recibir apoyo de acuerdo con las necesidades que han sido detectadas. Este trabajo consta de dos fases: la primera trata de un proceso de justificación y de investigación sobre el tema y la segunda se centra en la propuesta de intervención a través de una serie de actividades adecuadas para conseguir los objetivos planteados en relación con las características que presenta este síndrome y que serán útiles para que vaya adquiriendo las diferentes habilidades en su día a día.

This Final Degree Project aims to investigate the rare disorder known as "Crying Cat Syndrome," also known as "Lejeune Syndrome" or "5p Syndrome." It will investigate in detail the characteristics of individuals with this disorder and, primarily, how it affects their learning and performance in everyday life. It will specifically address the importance of specialist teacher intervention, in this case, in hearing and language, in the acquisition of the prerequisites and requirements for learning. This can be useful not only at academic level but also in the family and social spheres. Despite being a perhaps little-known and rare disease, we must be aware of its existence and be alerted to be able to act and intervene effectively with these individuals. For this reason, it is important to know that "it is a rare developmental disorder during embryogenesis caused by a total or partial deletion of the short arm of chromosome 5. It is classically characterized by a high-pitched, monotonous meowing cry from birth, associated with a variable degree of intellectual disability, psychomotor delay, microcephaly, and facial dysmorphia." (Orphanet, 2020) This final degree project includes a proposed intervention for first-grade students who exhibit this syndrome and require periodic intervention from the hearing and language teacher to receive support based on their identified needs. This work consists of two phases: the first involves a process of justification and research on the topic, and the second focuses on the intervention proposal through a series of activities appropriate for achieving the objectives set in relation to the characteristics of this syndrome and the needs of the student. These activities will be useful for the student to acquire different skills in their daily life.
