Olivares y el control de cargos (1625-1632): de la apertura al blindaje, con 1627 como punto de inflexión

Abstract

Este artículo pretende mostrar la importancia del año 1627 en el valimiento del conde duque de Olivares. A través de un análisis detallado de las fuentes y bibliografía se explica cómo la designación de cargos y la elección de personas para puestos de importancia varió antes y después de esta fecha. Delimitar tanto las intenciones gubernativas que impulsaron el fallido proyecto de nombrar inquisidor general al cardenal infante, como las causas que motivaron la sustitución de Gabriel de Trejo como presidente de Castilla es el principal objetivo. A su vez, se proporcionan nuevos datos sobre el cómo y el porqué de sus nombramientos para concluir.

This article aims to show the importance of the year 1627 in the government of Count-Duke of Olivares. Through a detailed analysis of sources and bibliography, it explains how the appointment of officials and the selection of individuals for important positions varied before and after this date. The main objective is to delineate both the governmental intentions that drove the failed project of appointing the Cardinal Infante as Inquisitor General and the reasons that motivated the replacement of Gabriel de Trejo as President of Castile. In turn, new data are provided on the how and why of his appointments, concluding with an assessment of the short- and medium-term effects of the two cases analyzed.
