La orden de Caballería de Montesa construyó su principal castillo-convento a las afueras de la población de Montesa (Valencia) en época medieval. El terremoto de 1748 arrasó casi toda la construcción quedando escasos restos. Uno de los más importantes del conjunto era el claustro que se creía terminado en 1393. Carente de documentación precisa, presentamos el contrato para la terminación del lado norte en 1443 con el cantero Jaume Esteve, realizando una reconsideración sobre la figura de este maestro así como del Maestre de la Orden Romeu de Corbera, que encarga la obra.
The Order of Knights of Montesa built its main castle-monastery on the outskirts of the town of Montesa (Valencia) in medieval times. The earthquake of 1748 destroyed almost the entire construction, leaving few remains. One of the most important elements of the complex was the cloister, which was believed to have been completed in 1393. Lacking precise documentation, we present the contract for the completion of the north side in 1443 with stonemason Jaume Esteve, providing a reconsideration of both this master's figure and that of the Order's Master Romeu de Corbera, who commissioned the work.
