Este artículo examina la producción de custodias eucarísticas en la platería de la Restauración, concretamente en el periodo comprendido entre 1875-1902, analizando el papel de la Iglesia como promotora de las artes sacras y el protagonismo de la burguesía como patrocinadora. Se aborda especialmente la contribución femenina y las motivaciones espirituales, sociales y culturales que impulsaron este mecenazgo, enmarcado en un contexto de revitalización del patrimonio religioso y afirmación frente a los desafíos ideológicos de la época.
This article examines the production of Eucharistic monstrances in silverwork during the Spanish Restoration, specifically in the period between 1875 and 1902. It analyzes the role of the Church as a promoter of sacred arts and the prominence of the bourgeoisie as patrons. Special attention is given to female contributions and the spiritual, social, and cultural motivations behind this patronage, set within a context of revitalization of religious heritage and affirmation in the face of the ideological challenges of the time.
