Las relaciones hispano-otomanas en los Balcanes a través de los casos de Rumanía y Herzegovina (1873-1875)

Abstract

Esta investigación examina las relaciones hispano-otomanas a través de dos episodios diplomáticos en los Balcanes: el agradecimiento de Alfonso XII a Carlos I de Rumanía tras su ascenso, que generó tensiones con la Sublime Puerta, y la rebelión en Herzegovina de 1875. Ambos casos permiten analizar las estrategias exteriores de España y el Imperio Otomano en su intento de integrarse al sistema de alianzas articulado en torno a Berlín. El estudio también considera la influencia de los contextos internos en la formulación de sus respectivas políticas exteriores.

This research examines Spanish-Ottoman relations through two diplomatic episodes in the Balkans: Alfonso XII's gratitude to Charles I of Romania after his ascension, which caused tensions with the Sublime Porte, and the 1875 rebellion in Herzegovina. Both cases allow for an analysis of the foreign strategies of Spain and the Ottoman Empire in their attempt to integrate into the system of alliances centred on Berlin. The study also considers the influence of internal contexts on the formulation of their respective foreign policies.
