    Abstract
The massive use of pesticides in agriculture has raised concerns about their impact on human health, especially on the intestinal microbiota. Several studies have shown that these chemicals alter the composition and diversity of intestinal microorganisms, which can trigger metabolic, immunological and neurological diseases. Among the most worrying effects are increased intestinal permeability, the development of autoimmune diseases, obesity, type 2 diabetes, allergies and neurological disorders such as Parkinson's and depression. In the face of this problem, agroecology is emerging as a sustainable alternative that makes it possible to reduce dependence on pesticides through agricultural practices based on biodiversity, the use of natural biopesticides and soil regeneration. The implementation of diversified crops, crop rotation and the use of organic fertilisers not only protect consumers' gut microbiomes, but also promote more resilient and healthier agricultural ecosystems. Adopting agroecological models not only benefits human health, but also contributes to food security and environmental conservation. The transition to pesticide-free agriculture is essential to mitigate the negative effects on the gut microbiome and prevent chronic diseases associated with its alteration.
