Los restos de una escultura romana inédita en Rabanal de Luna. León

Abstract

Los restos de un busto romano empotrado en un edificio en Rabanal de Luna, León, se han convertido en el objeto de estudio de este trabajo. La figura sigue la tipo logia militar de estatua thoracata datada a mediados del siglo II d. C, durante el periodo Antonino. La delicadeza de su talla de mármol hace sospechar la procedencia de un taller principal, no local, por lo que puede estar relacionado con el programa propagandístico del emperador en las zonas militarizadas. Con este trabajo se pretende dar a conocer uno de los pocos restos de la estatuaria romana de la provincia, así como poner en valor la figura para facilitar su musealización.

The remains of a Roman sculpture fitted in a house wall in Rabanal de Luna, León, have become the subject of a study of its origin, style and significance. The figure follows the thoracata military typology dated in the 2nd century d. C, during the Antonino period. The delicacy of the marvel sculpture suspects the origin from a main workshop, not local, that may be related to the power program of the emperor in the militarized zones. This work tries to bring to light one of the few remains of Roman sculpture found in the province and highlights the value of the figure in order to facilitate its conversion to a museum piece.
