La traducción en la enseñanza de lenguas

Abstract

Este artículo da cuenta, de modo sintético, de los principales argumentos favorables y contrarios del empleo de la traducción en la enseñanza y aprendizaje de segundas lenguas. Ofrece un somero repaso de los métodos principales de aprendizaje de lenguas y de sus posturas en torno al uso de la traducción. Resume algunos de los ejercicios propuestos por los especialistas en donde interviene la actividad del traducir. Finalmente, sintetiza los argumentos favorables a su incorporación desde la teoría de la traducción, la psicolingüística del proceso traductor y la evidencia favorable del multilingüismo. Se defiende por último la tesis de que la traducción ha de considerarse una destreza más en la enseñanza y el aprendizaje de LL2 y que debe incorporarse a todo syllabus desde las primeras etapas

This article explains briefly the most important arguments for and against the use of translation in foreign language teaching and learning. It offers a summary revision of the main language learning methods and their stances on the use of translation. It also sums up some of the exercises proposed by specialists in which some translation practice is involved. Finally, it synthesizes the arguments in favour of its incorporation since the theory of translation, the psycholinguistics of the translation process and the favorable evidence of multilingualism. It is also defended the view that translation must be considered one more necessary skill in second language learning that must be incorporated to all syllabuses from the very first steps
