The case studies used are aimed to widen mathematical teaching instruction. Set theory is chosen because of its fundamental application in Mathematics. Elementary set theory concepts such as element of set, empty set, subset and De Morgan’s law are used. Each case presents a teaching and learning deficiency or key moment of decision made when marking the work of students.
