Departing from the proposition that philosophy and sports are ways of knowledge, we propose the figure of the sports philosopher as possible incarnation of both united perspectives, that of the philosopher and that of the sportsman. We will develop two basic ideas, that philosophy is a gymnastics for the body, and that gymnastics are a philosophy for the mind. We understand that the sports philosopher must consider the real transcendence of sports, beyond current social values that encircle its meaning in virtue of postmodern individualism, relativism and uncertainty.
