<dim:field mdschema="dc" element="description" qualifier="abstract">The purpose of our study was the analysis of motivational differences involved in the practice of cooperative and especially non-competitive outdoor activities organized by the Salamanca´s City Hall. The sample were configurated by 176 school boys and girls, aged 9 to 15 (M = 12; SD = 1.5), from 21 different local schools who completed a questionnaire designed ad hoc. For 90% of participants the main reasons argued for engaging in these activities were “to get to know new sports” and “to do something different from what is normally being offered”; 79% valued the choice of this programme in terms of “the importance of being in contact with nature”; and 68% made positive comments on the fact that “there was no competition involved”. All in all, 99% were satisfied both with instructors and activities. Therefore, participants perceived the programme as a great success and as a very motivating initiative; the most highlighted features were its novelty, its non-competitive and cooperative nature and the fact that activities took place in a natural environment.</dim:field>
<dim:field mdschema="dc" element="description" qualifier="abstract">El objeto de nuestro estudio fue el análisis de las diferencias motivacionales para la práctica de actividades deportivas en el medio natural, de carácter cooperativo y especialmente no competitivas, organizadas por el Ayuntamiento de Salamanca. La muestra estuvo compuesta por 176 escolares, pertenecientes a 21 centros, con edades comprendidas entre los 9 y los 15 años (M= 12, DT= 1,5), que completaron un cuestionario creado ad hoc. Los principales motivos para realizar estas actividades han sido, para el 90%, “conocer nuevos deportes” y “porque es distinto a lo que les ofrecen habitualmente”. El 79% valora la elección de este programa por la importancia del “contacto con la Naturaleza” y el 68% porque “no exista competición”. El 99% se muestran satisfechos con los monitores y la actividad. Por lo tanto, el éxito del programa es total por parte de todos los participantes y muy motivante, al ser novedoso, no competitivo, cooperativo y realizado en medio natural.</dim:field>
