Introducción: Uno de los grupos de riesgo con indicación para vacunarse frente a la
gripe es el personal sanitario, sin embargo, siguen siendo significativas las bajas tasas
de inmunización en el mundo con respecto a los porcentajes recomendados por la
Organización Mundial de la Salud.
Objetivos: Conocer la cobertura entre profesionales sanitarios y la vacunación de la
gripe, analizando las tasas de vacunación por categoría profesional y por centros,
además del estudio de las razones que motivan al personal sanitario a vacunarse y
las barreras asociadas al rechazo de la vacunación.
Material y métodos: Se ha realizado una revisión bibliográfica en las bases de datos
Cuiden, Pubmed, Cochrane y Scielo, utilizando las palabras clave “vacunación de la
gripe” y “personal sanitario”, desde enero hasta mayo de 2018. Tras aplicar los
criterios de inclusión y exclusión, se obtuvieron 20 estudios.
Resultados: Los médicos y las enfermeras son los profesionales más vacunados y el
medio hospitalario es donde mayores tasas de inmunización se encuentran. En cuanto
al análisis de los principales beneficios, se han resaltado la protección individual y la
protección del paciente. Por el contrario, el miedo a los efectos secundarios y la falta
de percepción de riesgo de contraer y transmitir la gripe se han presentado como las
causas negativas a la inmunización.
Discusión: La cobertura de vacunación frente a la gripe sigue siendo baja entre el
personal sanitario. Son necesarios programas formativos dirigidos a los profesionales
sanitarios acerca de los beneficios de la vacuna de la gripe y los riesgos que genera
la no vacunación, concienciando de que la vida de muchos pacientes está en juego.
Introduction: One of the risk groups recommended to get vaccinated against
influenza is the health personnel. However, low immunization rates are outstanding all
over the world in relation to the percentages suggested by the WHO
Objectives: To get to know the coverage of the vaccination among the health workers,
analysing the vaccination rates according to occupation and health centres, together
with the research of the reasons that lead health workers to get vaccinated and the
barriers associated to the vaccination refusal.
Material and methods: A bibliographic review was carried out in the Cuiden, Pubmed,
Cochrane and Scielo databases, using the keywords "influenza vaccines" and "health
personnel", from January to May 2018. After applying the inclusion and exclusion
criteria, the following were obtained: 20 studies.
Results: Doctors and nurses are the health workers that get most vaccinated, and the
hospital area is the place where highest vaccination rates can be found. Regarding the
analysis of the main benefits, the individual protection and the protection of the patient
are the most relevant. However, fear of side effects and the lack of perception of the
risk of contracting and transmitting influenza have been shown as the negative
reasons.
Discussion: Vaccination coverage against influenza remains low among health
personnel. Training programs are needed for health professionals about the benefits
of the flu vaccine and the risks generated by non-vaccination, raising awareness that
the lives of many patients are at stake.
