El síndrome de Down (SD) es una alteración cromosómica que suele venir asociado a la
Discapacidad Intelectual Leve o Moderada y a problemas asociados a alteraciones anatómicas y
fisiológicas.
La lucha por la inclusión de estas personas en nuestra sociedad, les ha brindado la
oportunidad de mostrar su capacidad de aprender. Para ello, será necesario ofrecer una respuesta
educativa, eligiendo una metodología adaptada a las Necesidades Educativas Especiales y la
singularidad de cada alumno con SD.
He diseñado mi propuesta de intervención educativa siguiendo el modelo creado por Vaca,
Fuente y Santamaría, así como la metodología de Troncoso y del Cerro para trabajar la lectura y
la escritura durante 4 sesiones con mi hermano, de 11 años, con SD.
Down syndrome (DS) is a chromosomal disorder wich is usually associated to Mild or
Moderate Intellectual Disability and to problems associated with anatomical and physiological
alterations.
The struggle for the inclusion of these people in our society has given them the opportunity
to show their capacity to learn. For this, it will be necessary to offer an educational response,
choosing a methodology adapted to the Special Educational Needs and the uniqueness of each
student with DS.
I have designed my educational intervention proposal following the model created by Vaca,
Fuente and Santamaría, as well as the methodology of Troncoso and del Cerro to work on
reading and writing during 4 sessions with my brother, who is 11 years old and has DS.
