España, de la Primera Guerra Mundial a la Sociedad de Naciones Arranz Guilarte, Federico Pérez Sánchez, Guillermo Ángel La condición de España como país neutral durante la Primera Guerra Mundial, constituyó un factor determinante en el desarrollo de su su política internacional hasta bien avanzado el siglo XX. Su ausencia en los tratados de paz posteriores y en la creación de la Sociedad de Naciones, significaron el desplazamiento de nuestro país de los importantes foros de debate mundial que condicionaron las relaciones entre países a partir de entonces. El presente trabajo trata de analizar los motivos que propiciaron aquella posición de neutralidad, las circunstancias históricas en las que se produjo, así como las consecuencias - políticas, económicas y sociales - que de ella se derivaron. Spain, from the First World War to the League of Nations: Spain’s status as neutral country during the First World War was a determining factor in the development of its foreign policy until well on into the twentieth century. Our country’s absence from subsequent peace treaties and from establishment of the League of Nations meant, its exclusion from those important forums of debate which were to shape relations between the different states from that time forward.
