El presente trabajo es una investigación en la que se analiza la producción periodística de Sofía Casanova como corresponsal en el frente oriental (Varsovia y más tarde Moscú y San Petersburgo) durante la Primera Guerra Mundial (1914-1918) en el diario ABC. Se explica la biografía de la reportera, el contexto histórico y la trayectoria e ideología del medio, al igual que se describe la cobertura mediática y el papel de las mujeres como corresponsales de guerra. Se recurre a la metodología de análisis del contenido de las publicaciones para presentar el tipo de mensaje que plasmó Casanova en sus textos y averiguar la importancia que ABC otorgó a su trabajo. Los resultados muestran que la reportera reflejó un deseo de paz en sus crónicas de guerra, que el ABC valoró su trabajo y que los hechos ocurridos en Polonia y Rusia condicionaron su trabajo.
The present work is an investigation in which the journalistic production of Sofía Casanova is analyzed as a correspondent on the eastern front (Warsaw and later Moscow and Saint Petersburg) during the First World War (1914-1918) in the newspaper ABC. The biography of the reporter, the historical context and the trajectory and ideology of the media are explained, as well as the media coverage and the role of women as war correspondents. The methodology of analysis of the content of the publications is used to present the type of message that Casanova expressed in his texts and to find out the importance that ABC gave to his work. The results show that the reporter reflected a desire for peace in her chronicles of war, that the ABC valued her work and that the events that occurred in Poland and Russia conditioned her work.
