Para ello, se hace un breve recorrido histórico a través de las diferentes teorías y concepciones que se le han ido dando a lo largo de los años desde la perspectiva de distintos autores. Además, se alude a otra terminología que comúnmente es usada para referirse a las personas con alta capacidad, pero que, sin embargo, su significado real es otro. Se hace especial hincapié en la situación de desventaja en la que se encuentran los alumnos con alta capacidad, ya que el sistema educativo actual tiende a centrarse mayoritariamente en ayudar a aquellos con dificultades de aprendizaje, olvidando que los más capaces también requieren de apoyos. Por lo que, aunque existan medidas para ayudar a este alumnado no se suelen poner en práctica. Lo que se traduce en que un 70% de este alumnado tenga bajo rendimiento escolar, y entre el 35% y el 50% tenga fracaso escolar (MECD, 2018). Partiendo de este problema, se ha desarrollado una intervención para probar los efectos y beneficios que tendría aplicar alguna de las medidas ya existentes, en este caso, el enriquecimiento académico, en este alumnado. Buscando encontrar unos resultados que revelen una mejora significativa en su rendimiento y la motivación hacia las asignaturas, por parte de este tipo de alumnado. In the present work it is tried to clarify the term high capacities. For this, a brief historical overview is made through the different theories and conceptions that have been given to it over the years from the perspective of different authors. In addition, another terminology is alluded to that is commonly used to refer to people with high capacity, but that, nevertheless, its real meaning is different. Special emphasis is placed on the disadvantaged situation in which students with high abilities find themselves, since the current educational system tends to focus mainly on helping those with learning difficulties, forgetting that the most capable also require of supports. Therefore, although there are measures to help these students, they are not usually put into practice. This translates into 70% of this student body having low school performance, and between 35% and 50% having school failure (MECD, 2018). Starting from this problem, an intervention has been developed to test the effects and benefits that any of the existing measures would have to apply, in this case, academic enrichment, in this student body.
