Para ello nos centramos en las dos mayores instituciones a nivel global en esta materia: el Banco Central Europeo y la Reserva Federal de EEUU. En primer lugar, se presentan estos dos bancos centrales (historia, objetivos e instrumentos). A continuación, se hace un análisis del contexto económico antes del estallido de la burbuja inmobiliaria y la evolución de la crisis en sus primeras fases (hasta la intervención de los bancos centrales). Y por último se recopilan las principales medidas adoptadas por estas instituciones. Como conclusión general, podemos extraer que la salida de la crisis fue gracias a las llamadas Quantitative Easing (medidas de expansión de la oferta monetaria a través de la compra masiva de activos a los bancos) implementadas primeramente por la Fed y posteriormente por el BCE. The present assignment, aims to analyze the Great Recession from a monetary policy economic perspective. In order to do so, we focus on the two major global institutions in this matter: the European Central Bank and the US Federal Reserve. First, these two central banks are presented (history, objectives and instruments). Next, we analyze the surrounding economic context before the bursting of the housing bubble and the evolution of the crisis in its first moments (until the intervention of the central banks). And finally, the main measures adopted by these institutions are summarised.
