El monasterio de San Benito el Real de Valladolid fue uno
de los más importantes cenobios masculinos de la ciudad.
Se construyó a inicios del siglo XVI sobre el antiguo alcázar
Real siguiendo los planos de Juan de Arandia y García de
Olave. Con las desamortizaciones de inicio de siglo XIX el
monasterio se transformó en cuartel y gran parte de sus
elementos muebles se dispersaron en distintas ubicaciones
o directamente desaparecieron.
Este trabajo pretende analizar la ubicación de parte de
estos elementos que actualmente están repartidos en distintas
instituciones y disponerlos mediante una restitución
virtual en la posición que tuvieron antes del desmantelamiento
del interior del templo. Concretamente el conjunto
compuesto por el coro bajo o de los Generales, la reja
central y el coro alto o de los monjes
The monastery of San Benito el Real in Valladolid was one
of the most important male monasteries in the city. It was
built at the beginning of the 16th century on the old Royal
Alcázar following the plans of Juan de Arandia and García de Olave. Whit the confiscations at the beginning of
the 19th century, the monastery was transformed into a
barracks and a large part of its movable elements were
dispersed in different locations or directly disappeared.
This work aims to analyze the location of part of these elements
that are currently distributed in different institutions
and arrange them by means of a virtual restitution in the
position they had before the dismantling of the inside of
the temple. Specifically, the ensemble made up of the
low choir or the Generals, the central grille and the high
choir or the monks.
