<dc:description>The Late Medieval Castilian Church played a fundamental role in the struggles between Pedro I and his stepbrother, the future Enrique II. The control of the ecclesiastical estate was the key to achieve a greater degree of power, with periods of greater or lesser collaboration between the Church, at all levels, and the monarch, finding certain sectors adept at a cause and others whose fidelity will change drastically. The relationships between Pedro I and the Castilian episcopate, the papacy, the military orders and the monasteries are examined in this project.</dc:description>
