<dc:description>Theo Angelopoulos’ work (Athens, 1936-2012) is a masterful example of the renewal of the Classical Tradition into a cinematographic language that combines myth, poetry, music, philosophy and Classical tragedy with contemporary history. His film concept is very close to the theater and especially the tragedy of Aeschylus, though The Weeping Meadow (2004), the first piece of his latest trilogy, the influence of Euripides is also perceived. The ancient myth is recreated in a tragedy of the twentieth century.</dc:description>
