<dim:field mdschema="dc" element="description" qualifier="abstract" lang="es">Las creencias epistémicas relacionadas con la Geografía y la Historia influyen en la manera en la que los docentes abordan su enseñanza. Esta investigación de métodos mixtos centra su atención en el profesorado en formación de Educación Infantil y Primaria, y en la relación entre sus visiones sobre ambas disciplinas. A través de la aplicación de un cuestionario de respuesta abierta, y utilizando dos marcos de análisis basados en niveles de competencia, se realiza un examen de las posiciones de 63 docentes en formación. Los resultados muestran la existencia de una correlación positiva, estadísticamente significativa, entre las creencias de ambas disciplinas. Se concluye proponiendo la necesidad de trabajar de forma específica en torno a la naturaleza de ambas áreas.</dim:field>
<dim:field mdschema="dc" element="description" qualifier="abstract" lang="es">Epistemic beliefs about Geography and about History can impact the way teachers address both subjects in their classroom practice. This mixed-methods research focuses on Early Childhood and&#xd;
Primary Education initial teacher training, and on the relation between pre-service teachers’ visions for&#xd;
both disciplines. By making use of an open-ended questionnaire, and by using two analytical frameworks&#xd;
based of progression levels, the views of 63 prospective teachers are examined. Results show the existence of a positive, statistically significant correlation between the beliefs about Geography and about History. The necessity of working specifically about the nature of both areas is proposed as a way of improving teaching practices.</dim:field>
