Facultad de Educación de Palencia A lo largo del presente trabajo de fin de máster se profundiza en el absentismo escolar, un fenómeno con múltiples consecuencias en nuestra sociedad cuyo abordaje debe ser prioritario tanto dentro de los centros educativos como fuera de ellos. Para ello, es importante conocer, entre otras cosas, qué es el absentismo escolar y qué tipos del mismo existen, cuál es el perfil del alumnado absentista, cuáles son los factores desencadenantes, qué consecuencias se producen y qué medios se emplean actualmente para reducir o poner fin al fenómeno. Lo que se busca con este trabajo es, a partir de una revisión bibliográfica, conocer estos factores y analizar los planes de prevención e intervención de las diferentes provincias de Castilla y León para evitar que se sigan llevando a cabo estas conductas absentistas, consiguiendo, así, mejoras significativas en el alumnado, en el sistema educativo y en la sociedad en general.
