<mods:abstract>Na Basílica de Nossa Senhora do Rosário de Fátima (1928-1953) as rochas ornamentais portuguesas dominam a arquitetura e a escultura, assumindo valores de ordem estética e simbólica. Recorrendo a uma metodologia interdisciplinar, baseada na análise dos documentos históricos e na análise macroscópica in situ, identificou-se a sua grande variedade e origens: Leiria/Fátima, região de Sintra - Pêro Pinheiro e Anticlinal de Estremoz. Perceber a expressão e interação estética destes materiais, valorizando-os, e contribuir para o conhecimento da história material deste edifício no contexto da arquitetura religiosa do seu tempo são objetivos deste estudo que poderá revelar-se importante em futuros trabalhos de conservação e restauro.</mods:abstract>
