La imagen del periodismo que ofrece el cine influye en la concepción que tiene la sociedad de esta
profesión. Es por ello que resulta importante estudiar cómo se representa a estos profesionales de la
información.
Desde sus inicios el cine siempre ha tenido muy en cuenta la profesión periodística a la hora de
realizar sus películas. Si se efectúa un recorrido a lo largo de los largometrajes sobre periodismo, se
comprueba que existen diferentes formas de representar al periodista y que generalmente responden
a una serie de estereotipos.
En este trabajo se estudian los diferentes perfiles periodísticos y los cambios que ha tenido la
imagen periodística a lo largo de los años a través del cine. Para ello, se estudia la historia de la
industria cinematográfica de Hollywood y la representación del periodista en ese periodo de tiempo.
Además, se realiza un análisis de cualitativo de tres películas correspondientes a cada periodo
significativo de la historia, Ciudadano Kane (Citizen Kane, Orson Welles, 1941), Todos los hombres
del presidente (All the Presiden´s Men, Alan J. Pakula, 1976) y El dilema (The Insiders, M. Mann,
1999)
The image of journalism offered by cinema influences society's conception of this profession. That’s
why it is important to study how these information professionals are represented.
From the beginnig, the cinema has always taken the journalistic profession into account when
making its films. If a tour is made through the feature films about journalism, it is verified that there
are different ways of representing the journalist and that they generally respond to a series of
stereotypes.
In this work, the different journalistic profiles and the changes that the journalistic image has had
over the years through cinema are studied. For this, the history of the Hollywood film industry and
the representation of the journalist in that period of time are studied.
In addition, a qualitative analysis of three films corresponding to each significant period of history
is carried out, Citizen Kane (Orson Welles, 1941), All the Presiden´s Men ( Alan J. Pakula, 1976)
and The Insiders, (Michael Mann, 1999
