Facultad de Ciencias Económicas y Empresariales Éxodo Rural - España - Castilla y León - Siglo XX Castilla y León es una Comunidad Autónoma de España que, pese a ser la más grande del país en extensión, es la sexta en cuanto a población se refiere. Desde 1950, la Comunidad arrastra una grave tendencia decreciente de la población contra la que las actuaciones políticas para contrarrestarla han sido nulas, haciendo que las consecuencias para sus habitantes y para la región sean muy duras. Muchos pequeños municipios han quedado completamente inhabitados, lo que ha hecho que haya extensas zonas por la Comunidad que sean desiertos demográficos, convirtiendo a Castilla y León en la región española con menor número de habitantes por km2 (25) de todo el país conjunto a Extremadura. Las consecuencias para sus habitantes se manifiestan en diversos ámbitos, desde la Economía, la Educación, la Sanidad… Haciendo que salgan claramente perjudicados si se atiende a comparaciones con otras regiones. La situación, puede empeorar considerablemente en años futuros debido a la estructura de la población castellanoleonesa, debido a que su grueso está integrado por una población madura-envejecida.
