En los orígenes del Pleito Insular: discordias entre las autoridades canarias por la reconfiguración del poder y sus instituciones (1808-1819)

Desde la ocupación francesa, el movimiento juntero irrumpió de
lleno en Canarias, desconfiguró y maleó enormemente la jerarquía del
poder que hasta entonces se había atendido en el Archipiélago. Entre
1808 y 1819 se dieron una serie de procedimientos que llegarán a presagiar
una fuerte pugna por la autoridad que terminará por transformarse
en un conflicto interinsular. Es en este periodo, en concreto, en el que
se enfrentan todos los órganos e instituciones de la región y es cuando
surgen muchos de los argumentos y fórmulas disuasorias claves para
entender el Pleito Insular a lo largo del siglo XIX. El rechazo, recelo y
freno del que se dispuso entre las esferas de mando, en la época que va
desde la Guerra de Independencia hasta la división del Obispado de Canarias,
es lo que en este trabajo se pretende dilucidar, entendiéndolo
como un proceso de inmersión en la contemporaneidad.
Since the French occupation, the juntero movement burst into the
Canary Islands, disfiguring and greatly distorting the hierarchy of power
that had been attended to in the Archipelago until then. Between 1808
and 1819, a series of procedures took place. That, would presage a
strong struggle for the authority and would end up becoming an interisland
conflict. It is in this specific period in which all the organs and
institutions of the region confront each other and when many of the key
dissuasive arguments and formulas emerge. So with them, we can understand
the Pleito Insular throughout the 19th century. The rejection,
mistrust and brake that was available between the spheres of command,
in the time that goes from the War of Independence to the division of
the Bishopric of Canaries, is what this work intends to elucidate, understanding
it as a process of immersion in contemporary times.
