Twitch nació en 2011 como una plataforma derivada de la ya existente Justin.TV. En un
principio nace como una plataforma para emitir videojuegos en directo, pero su
popularización hizo que el campo de acción de Twitch se abriese a nuevos horizontes
como es el caso de la información deportiva. En este campo destaca especialmente Gerard
Romero, quien abrió su canal en esta plataforma en diciembre de 2020 y a día de hoy ya
cuenta con 708.000 seguidores y 6.540 espectadores de media.
Mediante este trabajo se realiza un análisis de su canal de Twitch, desde los contenidos
que realiza y con qué frecuencia, hasta un marco temporal sobre la construcción de su
comunidad en esta plataforma. Se llevará a cabo una metodología mixta que combine
técnicas cuantitativas, como la recopilación de las estadísticas del canal, junto con
técnicas cualitativas como entrevistas a sus trabajadores: Albert Rogé y Carlos Monfort.
La metodología de trabajo en el caso de Gerard Romero dista mucho a la de un medio
tradicional. Tanto Carlos Monfort como Albert Rogé coinciden en que la mayor diferencia
entre un medio tradicional y el Twitch de Gerard Romero recae en la libertar creativa y
de tiempo que les ofrece la plataforma y el streamer.
El punto de inflexión de Gerard Romero llegó el 31 de diciembre de 2021, superando los
18.000 espectadores de media. El 1 de septiembre de 2022 alcanzó en un directo un pico
máximo de audiencia de 146.872 usuarios, En 2021 Gerard Romero ocupaba el puesto
1.890º en Twitch en cuanto a seguidores, en 2022 el 173º, mientras hoy en día posicionó
su canal en el top 100 del mundo.
Twitch was born in 2011 as a platform derived from the already existing Justin.TV. At
first it was born as a platform to broadcast live video games, but its popularization made
Twitch's field of action open to new horizons such as sports information. In this field
Gerard Romero stands out especially, who opened his channel on this platform in

Through this work, an analysis of his Twitch channel is carried out, from the contents he
performs and how often, to a time frame on the construction of his community on this
platform. A mixed methodology will be carried out combining quantitative techniques,
such as the collection of channel statistics, along with qualitative techniques such as
interviews with their workers: Albert Rogé and Carlos Monfort. The working
methodology in the case of Gerard Romero is far from that of a traditional media, both
Carlos Monfort and Albert Rogé agree that the biggest difference between a traditional
media and Gerard Romero's Twitch lies in the creative freedom and time offered by the
platform and the streamer.
Gerard Romero's turning point came on December 31, 2021, surpassing 18,000 viewers
on average. On September 1, 2022 he reached in a live stream a maximum peak audience
of 146,872 users, In 2021 Gerard Romero ranked 1,890th on Twitch in terms of followers,
in 2022 173rd, while today he positioned his channel in the top 100 in the world.
