Canis Lupus, una pieza más en el territorio castellano-leonés

El lobo ibérico es y ha sido una especie emblemática en España. La percepción social que
se tenía hacia dicho animal en el pasado, contribuyó a que sus poblaciones y su área de
distribución menguaran. Sin embargo, esa percepción ha mejorado con los años, gracias
a los movimientos ecologistas y conservacionistas de la década de los 70. Actualmente,
el depredador se encuentra protegido y parece haberse recuperado, por lo menos en
Castilla y León. En esta comunidad, el lobo es un elemento muy importante, pues
perjudica los intereses de sectores como la ganadería y la caza, los cuales se muestran
contrarios a su protección. Este estudio trata de entender la relación que existe entre la
percepción social hacia dicho animal y la distribución del mismo, teniendo en cuenta una
serie de agentes y factores de todo tipo.
The Iberian wolf is and has been an emblematic species in Spain. The social perception
of this animal in the past contributed to the decline of its populations and its area of
distribution. However, this perception has improved over the years, thanks to the
ecological and conservationist movements of the 1970s. Today, the predator is protected
and seems to have recovered, at least in Castilla y León. In this community, the wolf is a
very important element, as it harms the interests of sectors such as livestock farming and
hunting, which are opposed to its protection. This study tries to understand the
relationship between the social perception of the wolf and its distribution, taking into
account a series of agents and factors of all kinds.
