Este escrito, adoptando la mirada benjaminiana, navega por sus contradicciones, complejidades y momentos críticos. A través de la metáfora de la Odisea de Adorno y Horkheimer, se examina cómo, desde la magia primitiva hasta hoy, el miedo y el deseo de conocimiento y poder han definido esta marcha y establecido una separación radical entre naturaleza y humanidad. Se exploran las voces críticas de Rousseau, Schiller y Thoreau, quienes proponen una relación más respetuosa con la naturaleza y una reivindicación de la sensibilidad humana. Asimismo, se aborda cómo el progreso ha ignorado estas críticas en la transición del sujeto ilustrado, dueño de sí, al sujeto contemporáneo, empresario de sí, atrapado en un ciclo de autoexplotación. Finalmente, se hace un llamado a redescubrir un pasado vivo y asumir la responsabilidad moral hacia nuestros antepasados para construir un presente y futuro más ético. The concept of progress has played a significant role in boosting and shaping human history. This text, viewed through the lens of benjaminian philosophy, delves into its contradictions, intricacies, and pivotal junctures. By drawing parallels with Adorno and Horkheimer's metaphor of the Odyssey, we analyze how fear and the pursuit of knowledge and power have been central to this advancement, leading to a profound division between nature and humanity from ancient primitive magic to the present day. The dissenting perspectives of Rousseau, Schiller, and Thoreau are examined as they advocate for a more harmonious relationship with nature and a vindication on human sensibility. Moreover, it scrutinizes how the trajectory of progress has largely disregarded these critiques during the shift from the rational autonomous individual of the Enlightenment era to the contemporary self-manager individual ensnared in a cycle of self-exploitation.
