Facultad de Ciencias Objetivo: La finalidad del estudio ha sido comparar la medida de la altura del menisco lagrimal obtenido con el dispositivo multifunción MYAH (Topcon) y el software ImageJ entre dos observadores con diferente experiencia clínica. Material y métodos: Se han incluido 30 sujetos sanos y mayores de edad. Dos observadores, uno novel, sin experiencia clínica y el otro experto, con experiencia en manejo de instrumental y medidas clínicas, han realizado por separado tres medidas de la altura del menisco lagrimal de los ojos derechos de los sujetos con el dispositivo MYAH y el software informático ImageJ. Resultados: No hubo diferencias estadísticamente significativas entre los diferentes métodos (MYAH vs ImageJ) cuando la medición la realizaba el mismo observador (P≥0,10). En cambio, sí que hubo diferencias en las medidas realizadas por ambos observadores con los dos métodos de medida (P<0,01). El observador experto obtuvo medidas ligeramente más altas que el novel con ambos métodos. Conclusión: Ambos métodos de medida (MYAH e ImageJ) son intercambiables cuando el mismo observador realiza las mediciones. Sin embargo, la medida de la altura del menisco lagrimal realizada con el MYAH y con el software ImageJ por diferentes observadores puede no ser intercambiable y hay que comparar los valores con cautela Objective: The aim of this study was to compare the measurement of tear meniscus height obtained using the multifunctional MYAH device (Topcon) and ImageJ software between two observers with different levels of clinical experience. Materials and Methods: The study included 30 healthy adult subjects. Two observers—one novice with no clinical experience and the other an expert with experience in handling instruments and clinical measurements—each independently performed three measurements of the tear meniscus height of the subjects’ right eyes using the MYAH device and ImageJ software. Results: There were no statistically significant differences between the different methods (MYAH vs. ImageJ) when the measurements were taken by the same observer (P≥0.10). However, there were statistically significant differences in the measurements taken by the two observers using both measurement methods (P<0.01). The expert observer obtained slightly higher values than the novice with both methods. Conclusion: Both measurement methods (MYAH and ImageJ) are interchangeable when the same observer performs the measurements.
