El estudio se centra en el papel que desempeñan los espacios construidos dentro de las películas del género. Esto se llevará a cabo de tres formas. En primer lugar, la visualización detallada de distintas películas de terror, prestando especial atención a la arquitectura de las edificaciones que aparecen. En segundo lugar, la elaboración de un análisis tipológico de dichas construcciones mediante una tabla comparativa que recoge los elementos más significativos y recurrentes en estos espacios. La tercera es un análisis más exhaustivo de aquellas películas que se consideran más relevantes. El cine de terror recurre a un amplio abanico de escenarios: mansiones victorianas, bloques de apartamentos, viviendas suburbanas, hoteles, hospitales… Todos ellos comparten ciertas características, el uso de las cubiertas inclinadas, buhardillas, sótanos... que han configurado la imagen arquetípica de la casa del terror en el imaginario colectivo. Así, los elementos arquitectónicos dejan de ser simples rasgos formales para convertirse en recursos narrativos indispensables del género. De este modo, se pone de manifiesto que la arquitectura en el cine de terror no es un simple escenario, sino una herramienta narrativa fundamental que permite reflexionar sobre el hogar, la memoria y la forma en que habitamos los espacios This paper analyses architecture in horror films. The study focuses on the role played by built spaces within films of this genre. This will be carried out in three ways. Firstly, a detailed viewing of different horror films, paying special attention to the architecture of the buildings that appear in the films. Secondly, a typological analysis of these buildings using a comparative table that lists the most significant and recurring elements in these spaces. The third is a more exhaustive analysis of those films that are considered most relevant. Horror films use a wide range of settings: Victorian mansions, apartment blocks, suburban homes, hotels, hospitals... All of them share certain characteristics, such as the use of sloping roofs, attics, basements... which have shaped the archetypal image of the house of horror in the collective imagination. Thus, architectural elements cease to be simple formal features and become indispensable narrative resources for the genre.
