the phenomenon, describing its main protagonists from its origins to its decline. After a brief

analyze McCarthyism and its main representative, Republican Senator Joseph McCarthy. This
will be followed by a discussion of the workings of the House Un-American Activities
Committee (HUAC) and the “blacklisting” phenomenon in Hollywood. The work will end with
an exposition of the importance of the FBI in the phenomenon, as well as the legislation that
cemented the “witch hunt”.</dim:field>
