El ceremonial en Nápoles durante la visita de María Ana de Austria en 1630

Es necesario estudiar el ceremonial que se desarrolló en Nápoles durante la visita de la infanta
María Ana de Austria en 1630, en su viaje a Austria para oficializar su matrimonio con el
emperador Fernando III, para así comprender la situación del Reino de Nápoles en 1630.
Mediante el estudio de fuentes primarias como los apuntes del maestro de ceremonias José
Renao, y bibliografía concreta sobre el tema, se encuentran los aspectos más destacados del
ceremonial durante la visita y las tensiones políticas que formaron parte de su desarrollo. La
pugna entre los dos virreyes, el duque de Alcalá, virrey en funciones, y su predecesor, el duque
de Alba, fue determinante para el desarrollo de la visita de la infanta a la ciudad y el desarrollo
del ceremonial. En este caso destaca cómo el ceremonial no es un simple protocolo, sino una
herramienta de poder y de representación de la Monarquía de España.
It’s necessary to study the ceremonial that was developed during the visit of the princess Maria
Ana of Austria in 1630, in her journey to make her marriage to Emperor Ferdinand III official,
in order to understand the situation of the Reign of Naples in 1630. By studying primary sources
like the notes of the master of ceremonies José Renao, and concrete bibliography about the
topic, highlights of the ceremony are found during the visit and the political tensions that were
par of the development. The struggle between the two viceroys, the Duke of Alcalá, acting
viceroy, and his predecessor, the Duke of Alba, was decisive for the development of the visit
of the princes to the city and the development of the ceremonial. This case highlights how the
ceremonial is not a simple protocol, but a tool of power and representation of the Spanish
Monarchy.
