Para poder escribir, alguien tiene que leer; para poder leer, alguien tiene que escribir. Es una unión innegable, la de la lectoescritura. Sin embargo, hay un pequeño matiz que suele ignorarse. Para escribir algo que pueda ser leído, algo que pueda ser leído con el alma, que quede impreso en el corazón, es el escritor quien, primero y ante todo, ha de saber sentir. Consecuentemente, para poder sentir hay que discernir qué son los sentimientos, qué emociones nos provocan, cómo reaccionamos antes ellas. Así podemos interactuar con el mundo, no solo a través de palabras, sino con acciones, actitudes y pensamientos morales, empáticos, generosos con los otros (altruismo) y no solo para con nosotros (egoísmo). Entonces, si esta habilidad es una desconocida y eterna olvidada para nosotros, los adultos, ¿por qué damos por hecho que aquellos que vendrán cuando no estemos habrán aprehendido algo que jamás les enseñamos? Nace así este Trabajo de Fin de Máster y la propuesta didáctica Érase una vez: el crecimiento del adolescente y su relación con sus emociones a través de la literatura. Ever since the beginning of our societal development we have claimed that, as a species, our reason and critical thinking are the two qualities that distinguish us from any other animals. Our first course of action was leaving behind the spears and taking up a writing instrument. That’s how we felt powerful, that’s how we came to be. But, nonetheless, for someone to be able o write our history, another one needs to read it. If something is written but it cannot be read, then it does not exist. However, even if we acknowledge the mutual relationship between writing and reading, there is an aspect that gests, mostly all the time, ignored by us all. For a text to be truly read, to be read by our souls, to get itself pressed forever against our hearts, we first need a writer that knows how to evoke emotions from within themselves. Furthermore, being able to feel means knowing what feelings are, what sensations they provoke, how to deal with them. That’s how we can interact with the world around us in a mindful manner, not as the owners of the Universe. That just leaves a question: if we, as the responsible adults of our society are not able to feel properly, how do we expect the future generations to learn something that was never taught to them?
