Analizar el funcionamiento del sistema, así como las últimas reformas que se han llevado a cabo ayuda a comprender cuáles han sido los motivos que han llevado a tomar esas medidas legislativas, entender los problemas futuros y pensar posibles soluciones en un futuro. Actualmente el sistema de pensiones es público, obligatorio y de reparto, esto quiere decir que los trabajadores activos financian con sus cotizaciones las pensiones de los actuales jubilados. Este modelo descansa sobre una relación estable entre cotizantes y pensionistas, relación que está alterada constantemente debido factores demográficos y económicos. Existen las pensiones contributivas y las no contributivas, ambas destinadas a hacer frente a situaciones de necesidad. El estudio pretende analizar el recorrido histórico que permite comprender el origen y el desarrollo del sistema, desde las primeras reformas para la creación estructural del sistema hasta la consolidación del sistema público de pensiones. Se observa la constitución de los diferentes principios del sistema de universalidad, unidad, solidaridad, contributividad e igualdad. Este contexto es necesario para entender el diseño del sistema y sus fundamentos. Hasta llegar al análisis de las últimas reformas en los años 2021, 2023 y 2024 que suponen cambios significativos en la forma de financiación del sistema, el cálculo y el acceso a las prestaciones públicas. Se muestra una visión global, crítica y actualizada del sistema de pensiones español, destacando los logros y las debilidades. Aunque la Seguridad Social es un garante de los derechos fundamentales, el estudio pone de manifiesto la necesidad de seguir implementando reformas que permitan garantizar el derecho a una pensión. The Social Security system is constantly changing. Analyzing how the system works, as well as the latest reforms that have been carried out, helps to understand the reasons behind these legislative measures, to understand future problems and to think of possible solutions for the future. The pension system is currently public, mandatory and pay-as-you-go, which means that active workers finance the pensions of current retirees with their contributions. This model is based on a stable relationship between contributors and pensioners, a relationship that is constantly altered due to demographic and economic factors. There are contributory and non-contributory pensions, both designed to meet situations of need. The study aims to analyze the historical path that allows us to understand the origin and development of the system, from the first reforms for the structural creation of the system to the consolidation of the public pension system. The constitution of the different principles of the system of universality, unity, solidarity, contributivity and equality is observed. This context is necessary to understand the design of the system and its foundations. Until reaching the analysis of the latest reforms in the years 2021, 2023 and 2024 that involve significant changes in the way the system is financed, the calculation and the access to public benefits. It provides a global, critical and updated view of the Spanish pension system, highlighting its achievements and weaknesses. Although Social Security is a guarantor of fundamental rights, the study highlights the need to continue implementing reforms to guarantee the right to a pension.
