Pobreza y salud mental. Intervención desde el Trabajo Social Santana Medina, Melania Sánchez Galán, Francisco Javier En este Trabajo de Fin de Grado se ha querido analizar el si existe alguna relación entre pobreza y salud mental, dos problemáticas sociales profundamente conectadas que afectan a un amplio sector de la población. Para ello se ha examinado los principales factores que influyen en ambas realidades, así como el papel del Trabajo Social en la intervención con personas en situación de vulnerabilidad. Los resultados han reflejado una alta incidencia de problemas de salud mental en personas con bajo nivel de ingresos, desempleo o inseguridad económica, especialmente entre jóvenes y mujeres, lo que confirma la fuerte vinculación entre malestar psicológico y condiciones socioeconómicas precarias. A su vez, se ha constatado la existencia de recursos sociales y sanitarios, llegando a la conclusión de que hay importantes limitaciones en cuanto a su accesibilidad y cobertura. Concluyendo así en que es imprescindible abordar ambas problemáticas de forma conjunta, reforzar los servicios comunitarios y reconocer el papel clave del Trabajo Social como disciplina que articula la atención integral desde una perspectiva preventiva, inclusiva y transformadora. Por ello, se ofrecen una serie de alternativas en cuanto a políticas sociales y propuestas de mejora que tienen en cuenta todo esto. This Bachelor’s Thesis is aimed to analyze whether there is a relationship between poverty and mental health. These are two social problems strongly connected that affect a large part of the population. To assess this, the main factors that influence both realities have been examined, as well as the role of Social Work in the intervention with people in vulnerable situations. The results of this Thesis have reflected a high impact of mental health problems on people with low income, unemployment and economic insecurity; especially among young people and women. This confirms that there is a strong relationship between psychological distress and precarious socioeconomic conditions. At the same time, the existence of social and healthcare resources have been verified, leading to the conclusion that there are significant limitations regarding their accessibility and coverage. It therefore concludes that it is essential to address both issues jointly, strengthen community services, and recognize the key role of Social Work as a discipline that coordinates comprehensive care from a preventive, inclusive, and transformative perspective.
