Facultad de Filosofía y Letras Turquía - Condiciones económicas - Comunidad Económica Europea - Integración económica Situado en una encrucijada entre Asia y Europa, Turquía lleva años intentando formar parte de la Unión Europea. Muchos han sido sus esfuerzos por cumplir los requisitos impuestos, pero también son muchas las razones de la constante negativa. Desde la construcción de su Estado, Turquía ha creado políticas económicas, sociales y culturales occidentales, con el objetivo de poder acercarse a la “identidad europea”. Pero la oposición de países como Alemania y Francia, la cuestión de Chipre, la falta de respeto a los Derechos Humanos, han sido un obstáculo en el avance de las negociaciones para su adhesión. El camino será largo y difícil, hay muchas reformas internas que aún Turquía debe realizar, y la UE hizo una promesa que ahora quiere reconsiderar. No se sabe cuál será el veredicto final, pero tendrán que llegar a un acuerdo para mantener sus relaciones dados los intereses mutuos que hay en juego. Turkey, which is located at the crossroads between Asia and Europe, has spent many years campaigning to become part of the European Union. In doing so, Turkey are making many efforts to achieve the requirements imposed on them in order to join the EU. However, there have been many reasons to negate Turkeys acceptance to the EU. To balance the concerns, Turkey (since the construction of its State) has created Western economic, social and cultural policies; all with the aim to get closer to the “European identity”. The opposition from countries such as Germany and France, the Cyprus issue and not forgetting the controversy raised by the identified by other EU states in relation to Turkey's lack of respect for Human Rights, which have presented as an obstacle in negotiations to progress Turkey's EU membership. The road to the EU is expected to be lengthy and difficult - there are many internal reforms that Turkey still must put in place and the EU made a promise, where they find themselves in a place of wanting to reconsider.
