En este trabajo se aborda la situación social y jurídica de las mujeres esclavas y cautivas en la
Península Ibérica en un periodo que abarca desde el siglo X hasta el XV. Se trata de profundizar
en las fuentes y enfoques empleados desde la historiografía acerca de una cuestión todavía poco
conocida. Se abordan la situación de marginalidad y abusos que sufrían estas mujeres de manera
específica dentro de este grupo, y cómo existió un sistema esclavista que sustentaba el sistema
social y era un apoyo económico. Por un lado el caso islámico, desde la perspectiva andalusí, y
el cristiano feudal, a través de casos escogidos de las coronas de Castilla y Aragón, por el otro,
permiten observar los cambios producidos desde la esclavitud de raíz antigua a la trata atlántica.
This paper deals with the social and legal situation of women slaves and captives in the Iberian
Peninsula from the 10th to the 15th century. The aim is to examine in depth the sources and
approaches used in historiography on an issue that is still little known. It deals with the situation
of marginality and abuse suffered by these women specifically within this group, and how there
was a slave system that sustained the social system and was an economic support. On the one
hand, the Islamic case, from the Andalusian perspective, and the feudal Christian one, through
selected cases from the crowns of Castile and Aragon, on the other, allow us to observe the
changes produced from slavery with its ancient roots to the Atlantic slave trade.
