AB The aim of this paper is to analyse the concept of globalization taking into account two aspects which are often disregarded. First, the fact that globalization is very often inseparable from territorial concretion (and not spatial neutralization, as it is often maintained). Second, the fact that for women it may imply the reproduction of gender discrimination (man/woman) in the relationship between First World Women and Third World Women. The city of Los Angeles, the most photographed city in the world and a paradigm of the last tendencies in urban studies, and more specifically four filmic representations of L.A. (El Norte, My Family, Bread and Roses and Real Women Have Curves), are used in this paper in order to exemplify the way in which corporate culture is influenced by concrete spaces and how it contributes to the globalization of certain jobs that had been typically performed by white women in the past.
