AB This article analyzes the degree of integration of animalistic motifs in the comedy El príncipe perseguido, written by Luis de Belmonte in collaboration with Agustín Moreto and Antonio Martinez de Meneses. We focus on detecting the symbolic and emblematic images, poetically reworked by the authors, and determining their sources, the allegorical meaning that they give to the scenes of the play, as well as their role in the plot.
