AB This paper presents a general reflection on U.G.T. during the first Republican two-year period (1931-1933), in the context of the whole Socialist movement. Due to its historical origins and its specific trade-union philosophy, U.G.T. devised a peculiar strategy of its own, in order to help consolidating the Second Republic, backing up the reforms and the socio-labour policies undertaken by the Republican-Socialist Government. The process towards radicalism, initiated by this Socialist trade-union, deeply modified its strategy. The consequences of this process were of paramount importance and meaning.
