RT info:eu-repo/semantics/article T1 La lucha de un docente novel de Educación Física por el reconocimiento de su profesión narrada desde una perspectiva autobiográfica A1 González Calvo, Gustavo A2 Ediciones Universidad de Valladolid AB The teaching profession is a complex, burdensome task which, nowadays, faces dilemmas such as the teacher ?s discomfort, identity crises, feelings of solitude and professional disqualification, among others. This article puts forward the way a novice PE teacher confronts the consequences derived from the social and cultural construction which surround the initial training, part of the Education Degree, and the teaching profession. At the same time, some of the strategies a teacher uses to change those beliefs are here clearly set out. Thus, the article is based on the premise that the professional identity is shaped and strengthened, closely dependent on the role society imposes on it, during this initial training and the first years of teaching assignment. This might condition the teachers self-image and self-esteem, something which could be an impediment in the pursuit of improvement.
