This approach of fers an alternative to traditional evaluation model backing a formative assessment that involves profound changes in the process of teaching and learning. The purpose of this study was to determine the competencies assessment model implemented or proposed by a group of physical education teachers in Secondary Education in the Comunidad de Madrid, as well as their techniques and tools. To do this, we have carried out discussion groups and semistructured interview - framed in a larger study about assessment methods -, with a group of six teachers - men and women, novices and experts who gained access to teaching with different backgrounds and degrees - who teach physical education at different levels of the ESO (Compulsory Secondary Education). Results suggest that teachers do not assess competencies, but only as part of the assessment of other learning objects. However, these teachers think that it is possible to assess them, although in a intuitive and global manner through techniques such as observation.
