AB The aim of this paper is to analyze race and gender perspectives encountered in ZoraNeale Hurston’s memoir Dust Tracks on a Road: An Autobiography (1942). In order todo so, I have first written a theoretical chapter on the genre of autobiography and then Ihave contextualized the history of African Americans from the Colonial Period until theHarlem Renaissance. Finally, I have analyzed the issues of race and gender present inher autobiography in order to show the inequalities and stereotypes about colored peoplein the earlier American 20th century.
