The main objective of this dissertation is to analyze the process of translation performed by Miguel Trujillo Fernández in the Spanish edition of Six of Crows published in 2016. More specifically, I will establish the several and specific techniques employed by the translator in dealing with such words as respectively contribute to the development of the novel’s fictional universe and are instrumental in terms of character building. Results demonstrate that the complexity of both, universes and characters, in fantasy fiction has an important bearing on the decisions made by the translator in order to adapt the text to the needs and expectations of the intended readership.
