The analysis of the English language methodology in Spain may reveala series of weaknesses in terms of its efficiency since the result of the Spaniards’learning process is below the European average. Consequently, this paper aims atanalyzing the evolution of the English teaching methodologies in Spain and at making acritical comparison with the ones applied in Sweden taking the Common EuropeanFramework of Reference (CEFR) as the starting point. The results show the strengthsand weaknesses of the current English teaching methodologies in Spain and in Sweden.
