AB Peru is one of those countries in Latin America that has grown the most in the last few years. Between 2001 and 2010 the country experienced an economic growth of more than 73% (FMI, 2011), and also managed to reduce the poverty rate from 42% in 2001 to 5,3% in 2014 (Data of CEPALSTAT). Nevertheless, there are still a couple of major problems in the country, one of them is the regional disparities. One of the most neglected regions is the Amazon region, whose population suffers from the deprivations of the satisfaction of basic needs and its consequences, like child malnutrition that badly influences the life and well-being of many Peruvian children.The analysis of child malnutrition in Amazonia serves as an example to reveal the necessity of restructuring Peru's social policy, and the importance of international cooperation in the battle against poverty.
