AB This final thesis consists of a comparative analysis and translation of the articleon Intellectual Property rights included in the framework contract for the provision oftranslation services in the European Union. The text in question belongs to the field oflegal language in the subgenre of contracts. The first chapter provides an overview ofIntellectual Property rights legislation in the European and Spanish legal systems, withspecial attention to translations. The second chapter deals with LSP and morespecifically legal English and legal Spanish in contracts. Moreover, it deals withspecialized legal translation and its relationship with Intellectual Property. The third andfourth chapters provide a practical analysis based on the theoretical knowledgepreviously acquired. They consist in the translation of the text and in its practicalanalysis through several aspects: textual, syntactic-grammatical, lexical andtranslational. At the very end of this thesis there is a section dedicated to the translatingissues encountered and the solutions provided.
