However, nowadays, due to the profound transformations of our globalizedworld, it changed even more radically. Currently, intercultural education and languageacquisition have become a real priority. In response to these new educational needs, approaches,teaching systems, and educators adapted accordingly, and during the last decades, an expansionof bilingual projects occurred. This new reality transformed bilingual and plurilingual educationin modern educational needs and the goal of this thesis work is to get to understand thesephenomena better. We will start by introducing the concept of bilingualism, languageacquisition, and early language learning. It is essential to get to consider the latter aspects asthey are directly related to the analyzed concept. Besides, we will present European policies inthis area and briefly describe the Spanish context. Finally, we even propose a teaching unit inwhich we will try to put into practice all the knowledge analyzed in the theoretical framework.
